Christmas at Old Main
It was fun to see the children with Santa. And it was fun to see the room full of people with cookies and hot cider in a very jovial mood talking to each other about good times at Christmas.
Wina Mortenson, who was emcee for “Christmas at Old Main” made the event a lot of fun. We got to hear Clara Byom play an old Christmas carol, then after we sang some Christmas songs Clara explained how the piano works while all the kids got to look inside. Then she played it while they were watching. Wina read story about a little girl’s Christmas a long time ago, and then Diane Thatcher enacted the part of the man’s true love who received all those gifts during the “Twelve Days of Christmas.” Imagine the thank you notes. The Galesville Area Chamber of Commerce brought Santa and provided treats for everyone. They also presented the Galesville Library with a gift for the purchase of children’s books.
It was a grand evening for Building Memories at Old Main! This is a very exciting time for the many volunteers and donor
s who have worked so hard for so long to see this grand building be restored– now we’re moving into the times when the building is coming to life for the community and surrounding area. You are invited to come and see, to participate, and to make use of this great community resource.
